Ittaqullah! Rising like a phoenix

Many things have changed and developed since the last time I posted on this blog. I am ashamed to admit that I haven’t been updating this blog regularly as I should, or kept in tandem with the pledge that I made a long time ago when I first started this blog. The reason behind that is simple. Not too long ago, the contents of this blog was wiped out in a severe server crash which caused all data to be lost. I managed to restore the blog from an older version of the backup, but the images and some files are pretty much gone forever. Some posts will contain broken links to these same images and files. I think I will leave it as they are until I figure out a way to restore them.

In any case, I certainly aim to renew my vow to keep to the main theme of Ittaqullah!, which is to “provide posts for the Muslims to benefit from and strengthen their faith in this beautiful deen“, as Allah SWT wills it, insha’allah.

Like the phoenix, Ittaqullah! is reborn from the ashes.

On the ocassion of the Eid ul-Fitri, symbolically signifying the “victory of the Muslims” over the nafs on this coming Saturday (for Muslims in Malaysia and regions which share this timing) and Friday (for Muslims in Egypt, Kosovo and regions which share this timing), Eid Mubarak to all of you (minus the Islam Liberals).

Finally I decided on using this free WordPress theme called NewsDay. Stopping short of actually forking out money to pay for a customised theme that suits my needs, I guess I have no choice but to be a cheapskate and be content with this blog theme for now. With all those blogs that I have to maintain on a regular basis, I guess I would need to introduce some paid blogging to keep this blog going. I am seriously considering that but I think I would hold that off for now until I am certain that I can continue blogging here on a much regular basis.

As I originally conceptualised for this blog, it will be free of polemics and will not touch much on religious discourse. I intend to keep it that way.

A new WordPress theme, soon

I guess the inevitable has to happen. I am bored with this theme. Besides, there is hardly any space to put up links to Islamic websites anyway, so I guess a change to a more suitable WordPress theme is inevitable. I have pretty much decided that the new theme will be similar to the one used on the official website of my book: Apostle of Doom: Christianity’s Terrorist Dogma In Paul’s Own Words.

I guess I am guilty of neglecting this blog and my book’s website anyway. Partly because I had been busy doing other things, and partly too because of the recent problems with TM Net’s Streamyx service (haven’t we heard of that excuse before?) but I certainly have no intention of abandoning this blog.

Ittaqullah! Calling to Allah!

Here is a blog by a Muslim for the Muslim ummah, calling them to ittaqullah. Ittaqullah is an Arabic phrase meaning “fear God”. However “fear” here does not accurately translate into the negative connotations that one associates with the English language. The phrase comes from the Arabic word for piety, taqwa. It is composed of the words “Ittaqu” and “Allah”, and is often found in Muslim literature.

My aim is to simply provide posts for the Muslims to benefit from and strengthen their faith in this beautiful deen, insha’allah. Something like Christian Journey, which has impressed me so much that I’ve decided to purchase this domain name and start a new blog. If such a need arises, I would certainly be linking to the other Islamic blogs that I own in order to explain a topic or an issue. These things do arise occasionally so it is best to be prepared.

May Allah grant us success.
