Title: We Will Not Go Down
Artist: Michael Heart

[See post to listen to audio]

A blinding flash of white light
Lit up the sky over Gaza tonight
People running for cover
Not knowing whether they’re dead or alive

They came with their tanks and their planes
With ravaging fiery flames
And nothing remains
Just a voice rising up in the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

Women and children alike
Murdered and massacred night after night
While the so-called leaders of countries afar
Debated on who’s wrong or right

But their powerless words were in vain
And the bombs fell down like acid rain
But through the tears and the blood and the pain
You can still hear that voice through the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

The following poem is the translation of a part of the Persian Dîwân by Mawlânâ Diyâ’ ad-dîn Khâlid al-Baghdadî (qaddas-Allâhu ta’âlâ sirrah al-’azîz).

OH WHAT A PITY!

I’ve idled my life away, oh what a pity!
Never thought of the Morrow, oh what a pity!

I’ve set the building in the air so foolishly,
My faith on weak foundation, oh what a pity!

I’ve gone too far saying His Mercy is endless,
Forgotten His Name “Qahhâr”, oh what a pity!

I’ve dived into sins and never done any good,
Why gone astray the right path, oh what a pity!

I’ve struggled to win the world and worldly virtue,
And missed the endless blessings, oh what a pity!

The road is rough and dark, the Devil leads the way,
Sins are heavy, I weep all day, oh what a pity!

Without a single virtue to appear in my deed-book,
How will this Khâlid be saved, oh what a pity!

Album: An Other Cup
Artist: Yusuf Islam
Year: 2007

[See post to listen to audio]

His wisdom flowed from Heaven’s Book
just like threaded pearls,
just like threaded pearls.

He left his self to flee to God
and God sent him back to us.

He was born to be the beloved
a will of the Divine
he was born to be the beloved
he was born to guide.

He prayed all his nights alone
in stars and Angels’ sight
and in the day he lit the way
with blazing words so bright.

He was born to be the beloved
a will of the Divine
He was born to be the beloved
he was born to be kind.

He taught the people to worship
bowing to one God,
bowing to one God.

His mercy stretched from East to West
to every man, woman and child.

He was born to be the beloved
a will of the Divine
He was born to be the beloved
nature, sublime.

He opened up the doors of love
for every heart parched with thirst
He was a mercy to the worlds
and unto the universe.

He was born to be the beloved
a will of the Divine
He was born to be the beloved
he was born to guide.

People of the world
do you know the truth about Islam?
or do you think its about
bombing planes and killing innocent people?

Forget about the lies
I am here to tell you how it really is
you deserve to know the truth
about this beautiful way of life.

People of the world
Islam is all about peace
terrorism, it doesn’t teach
Its all about love and family and charity
and praying to One God, this is Islam.

It’s something you should know
I know its really helped me grow
it does away with greed, filth, arrogance
and teaches us morality

A perfect way to live
so don’t believe all you see and hear
too many people wear a title of a Muslim
but they don’t practice Islam

People of the world
Islam is all about peace
terrorism, it doesn’t teach
Its all about love and family and charity
And praying to one God, this is Islam

And it teaches us The Creator’s made this life for us a Test
and if we follow truth and do good deeds
He’ll reward us in the next
if we remember God and teach each other
the truth and patience in His way
together we can live
in peace, this is Islam

People of the world
Islam is all about peace
terrorism, it doesn’t teach
Its all about love and family and charity
And praying to one God, this is Islam

Title: The Prophet’s Hands
Album: Enter Into Peace
Artist: Dawud Wharnsby (featuring Zain Bhika and Yusuf Islam)

[See post to listen to audio]

Holding to the wheel, each mile closer to conclusion.
His knuckles and his strands of hair are slowly turning white.
As he studies all the lines, like highways on his hands,
he recalls how straight the road once seemed, as he is left wondering what’s right.
The paths all curve and bend, sometimes he thinks they’ll never end.
How much longer will he push on? How much more can he pretend?

The Prophet’s hands, silken smooth and soft to touch,
sometimes he needs those hands so much,
to feel them clasp his own, let him now he’s not alone.
The Prophet’s hands, If they could take over the reigns,
if they could take away the strains,
guide him to the end with the patience of a friend.
Oh Allah, sometimes he needs the Prophet’s hands.

Stepping out to work each day, come whatever weather.
Father of the house he holds worry in his hands.
While she stays home left all alone, hands warn from too much ironing,
T.V. churns out but illusions….claims to know but hardly understands.
They greet but hardly meet, upon an endless dead-end street,
while children break the stormy silence of the palms raised in defeat.

The Prophet’s hands, silken smooth and soft to touch,
sometimes they need those hands so much,
to feel them clasp their own, let them know they’re not alone.
The Prophet’s hands, can bind husband and wife,
remind them why they share a life,
clasp them both upon his heart, gently help them make a start
to hold each other as they’d hold the Prophet’s hands.

Standing in the market square, so alive but void of life.
We work and we sweat and we struggle through each day.
As our efforts scar our hands, this world stains us with demands.
It’s hard to see life’s humour in the business games we play.
As we gnaw our nails with stress, our fists and hearts pound so carelessly.
With every effort forward, how much more can we digress?

The Prophet’s hands, silken smooth and soft to touch,
sometimes we needs those hands so much,
to feel them clasp our own, let us know we’re not alone.
The Prophet’s hands, as we toil in the square, come up behind us unaware.
Playful palms across our eyes, teasing to help us realize,
We need the jesting, joking, calming Prophet’s hands.

The Prophet’s hands,
silken smooth and soft to touch
sometimes we needs those hands so much,
to feel them clasp our own and let us know we’re not alone.
The Prophet’s hands, If they could take over the reigns,
if they could take away the strains,
guide us to the end with the patience of a friend.

Oh Allah, sometimes we need the Prophet’s hands.
Oh Allah, sometimes we need the Prophet’s hands.
Oh Allah, sometimes we miss the Prophet’s hands.

Album: My Ummah

What goes through your mind?
As you sit there looking at me
Well I can tell from your looks
That you think I’m so oppressed
But I don’t need for you to liberate me

My head is not bare
And you can’t see my covered hair
So you sit there and you stare
And you judge me with your glare
You’re sure I’m in despair
But are you not aware
Under this scarf that I wear
I have feelings, and I do care

So don’t you see?
That I’m truly free
This piece of scarf on me
I wear so proudly
To preserve my dignity
My modesty
My integrity
So don’t judge me
Open your eyes and see

“Why can’t you just accept me?” she says
“Why can’t I just be me?” she says
Time and time again
You speak of democracy
Yet you rob me of my liberty
All I want is equality
Why can’t you just let me be free?

For you I sing this song
My sister, may you always be strong
From you I’ve learnt so much
How you suffer so much
Yet you forgive those who laugh at you
You walk with no fear
Through the insults you hear
Your wish so sincere
That they’d understand you
But before you walk away
This time you turn and say

But don’t you see?
That I’m truly free
This piece of scarf on me
I wear so proudly
To preserve my dignity
My modesty
My integrity
So let me be

She says with a smile
I’m the one who’s free

Album: Unknown
Artist: Unknown, a qasidah (Arabic poem) by Ibn Qayyim

[See post to listen to audio]

Translation:

O Christ-worshippers! We want an answer to our question [from your wise ones],
If the Lord was murdered by some people’s act, what kind of god is this?
We wonder! Was He pleased by what they did to Him?
If yes, blessed be they, they achieved His pleasure,
But if He was discontented, this means their power has subjugated Him!

Was the whole entity left without a Sustainer, so who answered the prayers?
Were the heavens vacated, when He laid under the ground somewhere?
Were all the worlds left without a God, to manage while His hands were nailed?
Why did not the angels help Him, when they heard him while he wailed?

How could the rods stand to bear the True Lord when He was fastened,
How could the irons reached Him and [had] His body pinned?
How could His enemies’ hands touch Him and slap His rear,
And was Christ revived by himself, or was the Reviver another god?

What a sight it was, a grave that enclosed a god,
Stranger still is the belly that confined Him!
He stayed there for nine months in utter darkness, fed by blood!
Then he got out of the womb as a small baby,
Weak and gasping to be breast-fed!
He ate and drank, and did what that naturally resulted,
Is this [what you call] a god?
High Exalted be Allah above the lies of Christians,
All of them will be held accountable for their libels!

O Cross-worshippers! For what reason is this exalted
And blame [is cast upon those] who reject it?
Is it not logical to break and burn it, along with the one who innovated it?
Since the Lord was crucified on it, and his hands were fastened to it?
That is really a cursed cross to carry,
So discard it, do not kiss it!

The Lord was abused on it, and you adore it?
So [it is clear that] you are one of His enemies!
If you extol it because it carried the Lord of the Worlds,
Why don’t you prostrate yourself and worship graves,
Since the grave contained your god in it?

So Christ-worshipper, open your eyes,
This is what the matter is all about.

Title: Bring Islam Back
Album: 1924
Artist: Soldiers Of Allah

[See post to listen to audio]

Bring back Islam
Bring back the State
When I said no more wait
I meant…no more wait!
No more watching brothers die
No more watching sisters cry
O Muslim ummah rise up from these lies!
Rise up from nationalism pride
Allah is on our side
We will never compromise!
Muslim for life!
Muslims unite!

Billion and a half Muslims
They can’t make us or break us
Don’t judge us aside
By our faces and places
Colour blind
No spaces for racist travelers in this life
Your lies can never fool us
Islam is the only solution
To the problems that face us
We won’t compromise Islam

These kaafirs can never take us
When they drop bombs
On our brothers…it hits us
We don’t mix action with our prayer
Oh Allah……forgive us!
Let us rise up for Islam
Like we rise up for fajr at dawn
Uniting under one flag
Using Islam as our bond
Its time to take a stand
Follow only Allah’s Commands
Put Khilafah back on the map
Its time to bring Islam back

Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!

No khilifah where are we heading’?
Without Islam we’re stressing
Implement Allah’s blessing
That’s what I am addressing
Apart from this kufur scheme
Bring Islam back to the scene
Let’s unite the Ummah!
Following only the Quran and the Sunnah
Even if all the kaafirs got together.
They still couldn’t stop this ummah!

We love Islam more than we love life
Got Muslim brothers on my side
Keeping each other in line
With one vision, the Deenul Haqq
With one mission, to bring Islam back
One ummah! One agenda!
Allahu Akbar
Insha-Allah I will see you in Jannah

Takbir!
Allahu Akbar!

The Ummah was once one body undefeated
Until colonialism crept in and separated us
According to land,
According to geography
According to nationality
Now we suffer tyranny
Since the Khilafah been destroyed
We have been more than 50 states
Put in place puppet rulers with stupid grins on their face
Race or skin, your criteria of bond?
Shallow thinking and superficial is how we call it
This reality states that mankind needs revival
Based on what?
Definitely not the instinct of survival
Tribalism has infiltrated our mind
Has divided or lands
Now tells me where is our Imam?

Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!
Bring Islam back!

Muslim ummah’s driving but there’s no one to steer
Over a billion and a half Muslims but we got no Amir
When our enemies use to see the flag
They use to be in fear
They couldn’t hurt Muslims
Because Khalifah was here

So many years without a State
Muslims minds in rust
Now we must reestablish Islam
Reestablishment is a must
Fear no one but Allah
In Allah we trust
If you are down with Islam
Then you’re down with us!

Remember these words
Bring Islam back!
Time is slipping
So get back on the right track
No more borders between our land
No more kufur system to be ran
All of these belong to one land
Part of once mighty Islamic span
More than fifty two nations we fall
One nation strong we stand tall
Waiting for the ummah’s call
Once again and for all
Reestablish Islam to rule all

Muslims are suppose to be the example to mankind
It’s an obligation to have implementation
Of every legislation in our daily life
Without hesitation
Stick to our only example, Prophet of Allah
He did not improvised unlike our present leaders
That’s why there is no surprise
Our situations today

Ya Muslimeen
Ya Mu’meneen
Open up your eyes
Aim for the ultimate prize which is paradise
Allah’s Laws by definition has no flaw
So why do we pause?
Tell me what’s the cause

Hold your applause

Takbir!
Allahu Akbar!
